Hendrix Falls in Double Overtime

Sewanee, Tenn. - The Hendrix College women's basketball team forced a pair of overtime periods, but could not come away with the victory as the fell to Southern Athletic Association rival Sewanee 78-73 after the second extra period. 

Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler tied her career-high with a 29-point effort, but it wasn't enough to lift the Warriors to the victory as the Tigers pulled away. Sara Dyslin and Anna King each finished with a double-double, with Dyslin scoring 17 and nabbing 11 boards and King scoring 10 and snagging 14 off the glass.

Hendrix grabbed an early advantage, leading by as many as 10 points in the first half and took a 35-26 lead into the halftime break. The squad saw their lead disappear late in the second half as the Tigers leaned on Jamie Chauvin to take a 52-51 lead with 6:21 remaining. At the end of regulation Hendrix had a chance to earn the win. With the game tied at 58-58, Estrella Flores grabbed a steal with 22 seconds left, giving the Warriors the opportunity to take the last shot. The squad ran a set play for Kriesel-Bigler who just missed a game-winning three.

In the first overtime, the Orange and Black trailed by as many as five, but Kriesel-Bigler scored seven straight points to help the Warriors tie the game. Sewanee pulled ahead on a pair of free throws with 36 seconds left, but a Dyslin layup tied the gameat 67-67 to force a second overtime.

In the final frame, the two teams traded baskets until the final minute of play. Sewanee pulled ahead on a layup by Caset Hassett and never relinquished the lead, earning the 78-73 win.

The Warriors fall to 9-11 on the season with a 4-5 mark in conference play.

Hendrix Notes
- Hendrix shot 27-for-81 (33.3%) for the game, including just 4-for-23 from the three-point line.
- Kriesel-Bigler's 29 points mark the highest offensive output by any Hendrix player this season, topping her own mark of 25 against MacMurray earlier this season.
- Anna King registered her 10th double-double of the season, improving on her conference-leading mark. Sara Dyslin earned her seventh double-double of the year.
- This is the fifth time this season that both King and Dyslin have recorded a double-double in the same contest.
- Hendrix had not played a double-overtime game since Dec. 31, 2005, falling to the University of Dallas 89-82 in Irving, Texas.
- The Warriors are now 2-2 all-time in games decided in double overtime. 

Sewanee Notes
- Jamie Chauvin led all scorers with 32 points in the game, the most points scored by an individual against Hendrix this season.
- Sewanee went 28-for-70 (40.0%) from the floor in the game, including 7-for-20 from the three-point line.
- The Tigers went 15-for-16 (93.8%) from the free throw line, including a perfect 6-for-6 in regulation time.
