CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's tennis team improved to 3-1 on the year with a 7-2 victory over John Brown University at home Friday.
The Warriors swept through doubles in three close matches. Sophomores
Pratheepa Ravikumar and
Lauren Mahaney defeated Jessie Alexander and Taylor Russell 9-7 at the top spot, while sophomore
Julia Lefler and freshman
Laela Zaidi topped Krizana Saucedo and Eva Berry 8-6 in the second flight. Senior
Hannah Smashey and freshman
Sarah Walker defeated Caitlin king and Grace Cusick 8-5 in the final flight.
In singles, Ravikumar picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win over Alexander in the top matchup. Lefler, playing in her first match since fall of 2013, defeated Courtney Pinter 6-2, 6-0 in number three singles.
Walker improved to 6-2 on the season with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kellie Mowrer at the fifth spot.
Hendrix will take on University of the Ozarks at home on Saturday at 1 p.m.
