CONWAY, Ark. - On a night dedicated to the seniors,
Luke Vance led the Hendrix College men's basketball team to a crucial conference win against Southern Athletic Association rival Millsaps College, downing the Majors 59-44 on Friday night.
Before the game, Vance and student-assistant coach
Jackson Cohen were honored for their four years with the basketball program. During the game, Vance stepped up, putting up 17 points and pulling down a season-high 13 rebounds in 39 minutes on the court.Â
Hank Aldous chipped in with 12 points and reached career-highs in rebounds (14) and blocks (5).
Aaron Steele tied his highest offensive output with 11 points off the bench and dished out a career-best eight assists.Â
In the first half, the Warriors didn't take long to find their stride on offense, and midway through the first half went on a 9-0 run capped by a
Bryce Parker three-pointer to take a 20-9 lead.
John Ogle hit a three with 2:47 left to give the Warriors a 30-14 lead, their largest of the first half. On the final possession of the frame, Aldous drilled a fading three-pointer and the Orange and Black went into the halftime break leading 35-20.
Hendrix continued their pace in the second half, taking their largest lead of the game with 12:18 remaining when
Travis Garrett found Vance for a layup. Millsaps didn't go down without a fight, going on a 12-2 run over the next seven minutes to cut the lead to 11.
The Warriors were able to hold off the Majors' rally. The game came to a fitting end on the final possession, with Vance grabbing an offensive rebound with seven seconds remaining to run out the clock and seal the Hendrix victory.
Hendrix Notes- Hendrix shot 37.7% from the floor on the evening, including a 6-for-13 (46.2%) three-point shooting performance in the first half.Â
- The Warriors committed just seven turnovers on the night, their lowest amount of turnovers this season. The squad also posted a 3.0 assist to turnover ratio, their lowest against an SAA foe this season.

Luke Vance posted his fourth double-double of the season and
Hank Aldous put up his second of the year. The squad is 4-0 when one or both register a double-double.

Aaron Steele's eight assists marked a career-high and the highest assist total by a single Warrior against an SAA opponent this year.
Millsaps Notes - Two Majors finished in double digits. Myles Moore checked in with 12 points while Dustin Aubert finished with 10.
- Six different Millsaps players grabbed a team-high four rebounds in the game. Millsaps was outrebounded 44-36 on the night.
- The Majors shot 31.5% from the floor, knocking down only 17 made field goals on the evening.
Up NextHendrix improves to 8-16 on the season and moves to 3-10 in conference play. The squad will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they host Birmingham-Southern College in the regular season finale for both teams.Â
