CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The Hendrix College baseball team took to the field for the first time in over a week, braving the cold to take on the University of the Ozarks on Wednesday afternoon. The Warriors nearly rallied from an early four-run deficit to force extra innings, but fell 7-6 in ten frames.
Drew Judson went 3-or-5 with three doubles and a stolen base while
Jake Wiegand lifted a pair of hits with an RBI and a stolen base. Five different pitchers toed the rubber for the Warriors, as they combined for seven strikeouts.
Thomas Weber took the loss for Hendrix, allowing a single run in the 10th inning after blanking the Eagles in the eighth and ninth.
The Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead with three runs on four hits in the bottom of the first, but the Warriors responded with a pair of runs in the top of the second.
Spencer Summers drew a one-out walk, stole second, and was brought home by a Weigand single. Two batters later
Seth Mobley ripped an RBI double to left-center, bringing home Weigand to cut into the lead.
Ozarks added a run in the third and two more in the fourth to extend their lead to 6-2. The home team's advantage could have been larger, but
Brooks Billings made his season debut out of the bullpen, forcing a harmless groundout to end the inning, stranding Eagles on second and third.
In the top of the fifth, Judson generated a run all on his own. The freshman led off with a double, stole third, and scored when the catcher's throw sailed into left field, making the score 6-3. After the Warriors held the hosts scoreless in the bottom of the frame, Hendrix tacked on two more runs in the top of the sixth to make it 6-5.
The Orange and Black finall drew even in the top of the eighth. Summers reached on an error, putting a runner in scoring position with no outs. He advanced to third on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch, tying the game at 6-6.
Weber shut down the Eagles' bats in the eighth and ninth innings to force extra innings. In the top of the tenth,
Wyatt Hogan led off with a double, but the Warriors couldn't bring home the go-ahead run. Instead, Ozarks manufactured a run in the bottom of the frame to earn the 7-6 victory.
Hendrix Notes- Judson finished with three doubles, becoming the ninth Warrior in program history to rip three two-baggers in a single game.
- The Warriors combined for six doubles in the game, the fourth most in a single game in Hendix history.

Spencer Summers swiped two bases and scored three runs, both season-highs by any single Warrior so far this year.
- Hendrix stole five bases on the day, the most in a single game since March 26, 2014 (vs. Austin), and only the third time the team has stolen that many bases since 2012.

Colten Poellinger tossed a pair of scoreless innings in relief. He now has tossed 6.0 innings of relief without allowing an earned run this season.

Ryan Ritz extended his hitting streak to six games dating back to last season.
Ozarks Notes- Six different Eagles hitters finished with a multi-hit game, including Andrew Beck who went 4-for-6 from the plate.
- Alex Rodriguez was credited with the win for the Eagles, despite allowing the game-tying run in the eighth. The pitcher escaped a jam in the top of the 10th to earn the win.
- Ozarks now holds a 2-0 record over Hendrix in extra-inning games. The Eagles beat the Warriors 12-11 in 11 innings on Feb. 28, 2012 in their only other extra-inning meeting.
Up NextHendrix moves to 3-2 on the season and will begin conference play on Saturday. The Warriors host Southern Athletic Association rival Sewanee for a three-game series over the weekend.
