DANVILLE, Ky. - The Hendrix College women's basketball team completed the season sweep of Centre College, picking up a road 68-56 win at Alumni Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon.
The Warriors (10-11, 5-5), who also beat the Colonels (8-12, 4-6) 70-61 in Conway on Jan. 25, broke the four-way tie for third place in the Southern Athletic Association standings, and could be in the third spot alone with Rhodes and Oglthorpe yet to finish on Sunday.
Hendrix led the game most of the way, building a 28-12 advantage at the 7:15 mark in the first half. After taking a 38-25 lead into halftime, the Orange & Black maintained a double-digit margin throughout the second half.
The Warriors shot 46.3 percent from the field (25-of-54) and 4-of-12 from three point range. They were also 14-of-18 from the free throw line. Centre shot 41.5 percent (22-of-53) from the floor, but struggled from outside, going 2-of-11 and 10-of-17 at the charity stripe.
Hendrix committed a season-low eight turnovers.
Hendrix Notes- Sophomore forward
Anna King recorded her 11th double-double of the year with 16 points and 10 rebounds. It was her sixth in 10 SAA games this season.
- Junior point guard
Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler scored 15 points and dished out four assists. The Austin, Texas native moved her career scoring total to 900 points, ranking 17th in school history.
- Senior guard
Kati Broberg added 10 points, her fifth double-digit effort of the season.
- Freshman guard
Breann Forbes came off the bench to score eight points and pull down five boards, four of which were on the offensive end.
- Freshman center
Sara Dyslin added seven points, six rebounds and three blocks.
- Sophomore guard
Hailey Bode scored a career-high five points off the bench.
- After winning just one of the last 10 matchups against Centre since 2010, Hendrix won both games of the 2014-15 season. The Warriors last won two games against the Colonels in 2007.
Centre Notes- Guard Alexis Guy and forward Olivia Colliver each had 11 points and three assists to lead the Colonels. Guy also had six rebounds.
- Paige Kellam added 10 points and seven boards and Kaitlyn McKnight scored eight points.
- The Colonels fall to 4-6 in the conference standings, dropping to sixth place
