SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Hendrix College women's tennis team opened the Southern Athletic Association portion of the schedule with a 9-0 loss to #12 Sewanee - The University of the South on the road Saturday.
The nationally-ranked Tigers (11-3, 2-0), who are also ranked fifth in the Atlantic South Region, swept through doubles to open the match. Lindsey Liles and Bronte Goodhue, the topped ranked team in the region, defeated the sophomore tandem of
Julia Lefler and
Lauren Mahaney 6-0 in number one doubles. Sophomore
Pratheepa Ravikumar and freshman
Laela Zaidi lost to Kate Johnston and Clementina Davila 6-1 at the second spot.
Ravikumar lost to Maggie Crumbliss 6-4, 6-2 in number two singles. Zaidi fell to Elske Parker 6-4, 6-3 at the fifth spot and freshman
Alexa Kiss lost to Mariah Smith 6-0, 6-2 in the sixth flight.
Hendrix (5-4, 0-1) will travel to Danville, Ky. to face SAA foe Centre College on Sunday.
