DANVILLE, Ky. - The Hendrix College women's tennis team pushed Southern Athletic Association rival Centre College to the brink but couldn't topple the Colonels, falling 6-3 on Sunday afternoon.

The Warriors trailed 2-1 after doubles play. Laura Mahaney and Julia Lefler earned the team's only tandem point at the second doubles flight. The pair earned an 8-3 win at second doubles to get the Warriors on the board.

In singles play, Pratheepa Ravikumar earned a win by default at second singles after her opponent withdrew. Sarah Walker also grabbed a point for the Orange and Black, earning a 9-7 win at the fifth flight. Laela Zaidi and Alex Kiss each nearly snagged another point for the Warriors. Zaidi fell just short in a tiebreaker at third singles while Kiss dropped a 9-7 match at the sixth flight.

The Warriors move to 5-5 on the year with an 0-2 mark in the SAA and will take on conference foe Berry College on Friday.
