CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's tennis team lost 7-2 to Birmingham-Southern College at home in Southern Athletic Association competition on Saturday.
The Warriors (7-7, 1-4 SAA) took number two doubles when sophomores
Lauren Mahaney and Julie Lefler topped Lindsey Farrell and Katie Scherer 8-3. The Panthers (7-2, 2-2) won the other two double tilts 8-4.
Senior
Hannah Smashey picked up Hendrix' only singles win, defeating Alana Owens 7-6 (7-0), 6-2 in the sixth spot. Freshman
Laela Zaidi lost to Virginia Hammond in a number five singles tiebreaker 6-1, 6-7 (4-7), 1-0 (10-3).
Lefler also fell to Scherer in a tiebreaker in the third flight 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-5).
Hendrix will play their final home match of the season on Sunday when they take on Millsaps College.
