Warriors Open Postseason with Loss to Rhodes

JACKSON, Miss. - In the first game of the 2015 Southern Athletic Association Tournament, the Hendrix College baseball team fell 13-2 to the Rhodes College Lynx.

Thomas Weber generated most of the offense for the Warriors, coming away with two hits and an RBI. The Warriors' only other run came by way of a wild pitch, where Spencer Summers scampered home from third. Drew Judson, Matt Simmons, and Brady Newville each finished with a hit as well, but that was all the offense that the Orange and Black could come by.

Rhodes scored 13 runs on 15 hits and benefitted from three Hendrix errors as the Lynx rolled to the lopsided win. The squad scored at least one run in each inning that they came to the plate, notching one in each of the first three innings, five in the fourth, two in the fifth, and three more in the sixth.

Hendrix was held scoreless through the first six innings, but plated a pair in the top of the seventh. Summers earned a one-out walk followed by Zane Heather, who reached on an error advancing Summers to third. A wild pitch advanced both runners and gave the Warriors their first run. Ryan Ritz drew a walk and Drew Judson bunted his way on for a single. With the bases loaded, Weber grounded into a fielder's choice at third, but Heather was able to score to plate the team's second run. Matt Simmons followed with a single to right field, but Rhodes threw out the runner coming home for the final out of the game.

Hendrix Notes
- Weber registered his 12th multi-hit game of the season, the second-most multi-hit games this year.
