ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Hendrix College volleyball team knocked off #4 Carthage College 27-25, 23-25, 25-19, 25-16 to end the first day of the Baden Invitational, hosted by Washington University in St. Louis Friday night. In the first match of the day, the Warriors (5-3) fell to #14 Elmhurst (5-0) 21-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-19.
Senior defensive specialist
Felicia Beeman passed the 1,000 dig milestone for her career, coming up with a season-high 22 against the Lady Reds (4-1). The Monrovia, Calif. native now has 1,015 for her career.
Against Carthage, Hendrix trailed 24-21 in the first set, but held off three straight game points thanks to a pair of kills from junior outside htter
MC Rogers and another point from sophomore right side
Lauren Petrisin, tying it at 24-24. At 25-25, Rogers and Petrisin finished the set with kills for the Orange & Black. After struggling offensively in set two, which led to a two-point loss, the Warriors exploded for 16 kills and a .294 percentage in the third set, winning 25-19. Hendrix finished with a 25-16 fourth set.
For the match, Hendrix hit .119 with 46 kills, five aces, 70 digs and a program-record 18 blocks. Carthage hit .006 with 41 kills, two aces, 55 digs and 10 blocks.
Against the Bluejays, Hendrix hit .101 with 41 kills, three aces, 52 digs and four blocks. Elmhurst hit .241 with 55 kills, four aces, 70 digs and 11 blocks.
Hendrix Notes vs. Carthage- The victory over Carthage was the highest-ranked opponent Hendrix had ever defeated.
- Dyslin recorded one solo block and 11 assists for a program record 12 total blocks against the Lady Reds.
- Rogers recorded 12 kills with 13 digs for her 22nd career double-double. She also had six blocks.
- Sophomore outside hitter
Bradi Ryan knocked down 11 kills and hit .348 with four blocks.
- Petrisin finished with 11 kills as well.

Holyn Duyck had 23 assists and three aces.
Carthage Notes- Emily Heuermann led the Lady Reds with 11 kills.
- Luci Krenzke had 24 digs and Karen Chin posted 29 assists.
Hendrix Notes vs. Elmhurst- Ryan and Petirisin led the offense with 10 kills each.
- Rogers registered eight kills and nine digs.
- Matsumoto led the back row with a season-high 19 digs.
- Duyck and
Allison Gaia each had 16 assists
Elmhurst Notes- Hannah Nimrick recorded a triple-double with 15 kills, 35 assists and 12 digs. She also hit .609.
- Mary Lawrence had 12 kills, hit .429 and came up with nine blocks.
- Peggy Clemense recorded 16 digs.
Up NextHendrix will have two more tough matches on Saturday at the Baden Invite. They will take on DePauw University at noon, followed by host #8 Washington U. at 2 p.m.
