CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's tennis team opened the 2015-16 season with a 9-0 road win at the University of the Ozarks on Tuesday.
The Warriors (1-0) swept through doubles with little trouble. The junior tandem of
Julia Lefler and
Lauren Mahaney picked up an 8-0 win at number one doubles over Kayla Tucker and Paige Myers and senior
Any Jivan and sophomore
Sarah Walker topped Catherin Varvel and Andrea Munoz 8-0 in the third flight.
The Orange & Black only lost 12 games in singles to the Eagles (0-1). Lefler earned a 6-2, 6-0 win over Tucker at number one, and junior
Pratheepa Ravikumar defeated Imani Doyle 6-0, 6-0 in the second spot.
Mahaney had a 6-0, 6-1 decision over Myers at number thee singles and Walker defeated Eibes 6-1, 6-1 at number four. Sophomore
Laela Zaidi beat Andrea Munoz 6-2, 6-0 at number five and junior
Lauren Dickinson completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-3 win against Varvel in the sixth flight.
Hendrix will compete in the ITA Southwest Regionals in Georgetown, Texas beginning Friday.
