CONWAY, Ark. - In a battle of teams receiving votes in the AVCA Top 25 Poll, the University of Texas at Dallas came out on top with a 25-21, 26-28, 25-22, 25-21 win over Hendrix College in volleyball action on Friday night.
The visiting Comets (9-2), who received 16 votes in this week's poll, took the first by four points, but the Warriors (6-6), who had 49 votes, staved off three set points, to come back for a 28-26 victory in the second set. UTD battled two win the final two sets by three and four points, respectively.
Hendrix hit .116 with 56 kills, five aces, 114 digs and five blocks. UT Dallas hit .126 with 51 kills, seven aces, 106 digs and 10 blocks.
Hendrix Notes- Three Warriors recorded double-doubles.
- Junior setter
Allison Gaia had a season-high 28 assists with 14 digs. Freshman setter
Amber Melcher had 12 assists and a season-best 16 digs.
- Junior outside hitter
MC Rogers picked up her fourth double-double of the season with 12 kills and 18 digs.
- Sophomore
Bradi Ryan led all players with 19 kills and sophomore
Lauren Petrisin added 11.
- Senior Felcia Beeman came up with 21 digs, while junior
Leila Matsumoto had 17.
UT Dallas Notes- Abbie Barth had 13 kills and 24 digs for the Comets.
- Holyn Handley had 14 kills and 16 digs and Kristyn Schott recorded 12 kills and 19 digs.
- Michelle Toro led all players with seven blocks.
- Setter Kayla Jordan tallied 43 assists.
Up NextHendrix will play a pair of home matches on Saturday. They will face Southern Athletic Association foe Centre College at 11 a.m. and the University of Texas at Tyler at 3 p.m.
