MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Hendrix College men's soccer team opened the Southern Athletic Association portion of their schedule with a 3-3 road tie at Rhodes College on Saturday afternoon.
The host Lynx (3-3-2, 0-0-1 SAA) scored the first goal of the game in the 33rd minute when Matt McKeand found the net on a pass from Mark Robinson.
The game remained 1-0 until junior midfielder
Ryan Stanowski scored for the Warriors (1-5-3, 0-0-1) in the 54th minute on an assist from junior Stjernquist. Five minutes later Stjernquist gave Hendrix a 2-1 lead with his first goal of the season.
Evan Wladis tied the game in the 79th minute, then Rhodes took a 3-2 lead on another McKeand goal with 6:06 left in regulation.
Hendrix tied the game in dramatic fashion on a
Jacob Pierce header after a corner kick with two seconds to play.
Rhodes had a chance to score with eight seconds left in the first overtime, but senior defender
Larry Bringard saved the shot. Pierce's shot 36 seconds into the second overtime hit the post.
For the game, the Lynx outshot the Warriors 25-19 and 16-11 on goal. Rhodes also had an 11-6 advantage in corner kicks.

Nathan Myers had nine saves, one off his career-high.
- Pierce's goal was his third of the season and 16th of his career.
- Stjernquist's goal and assist were the first for him on the year.
- Stanowski registered his second score of the season.
