CONWAY, Ark. - Senior point guard
Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler drained 10 three-pointers en route to a career-high 30 points as Hendrix College defeated Rust College 83-76 at Grove Gymnasium Monday evening.
Kriesel-Bigler, from Austin, Texas, was 10-of-17 from outside and dished out three assists. Sophomore forward
Heather Prowse also scored a career-high 24 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field and a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line, tying the school record for three-throw percentage.
The Warriors (10-2) led by as many as 15 in the second quarter before taking a 39-29 lead into halftime. The Lady Bearcats (1-15) fought back to make the game 76-72 with 3:56 left in the game. A three-pointer by sophomore guard
Leah Smith pushed the lead back to seven, and Rust would only get as close as five points in the final few minutes of the game.
Hendrix shot 45.5 percent (30-of-66) from the field, 12-of-26 from outside and 11-of-12 at the free throw line. Rust shot 48.4 percent (31-of-64) overall, 7-of-19 from three-point range and was 7-of-10 from the line. The Warriors held a 41-29 rebound advantage.
Hendrix Notes- Kriesel-Bigler moved from fifth into a tie for second on the Warrior career three-pointers made list. She now was 208, tying with Casey Collins (1994-98). Maggie Harrington (1999-03) holds the record with 251.
- Prowse grabbed six rebounds and had two steals in addition to her scoring effort.
- Sophomore center
Sara Dyslin recorded 16 points, a season-high 15 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal. She now has three double-doubles this season.
- Smith finished with a career-high nine points and four boards.
- Senior forward
Katy Gallien recorded a season-best seven assists.
Rust Notes- Jasmine Golden led the Lady Bearcats with 26 points, nine assists, seven rebounds and three steals.
- Demetrius Bradshaw had 20 points, four assists and three blocks.
- Narissa Hooks scored 16 points with seven boards and three assists.
- Alexis Garner had 10 points.
