SEWANEE, Tenn. - Playing in their first road Southern Athletic Association game of the season, the Hendrix College women's basketball team defeated Sewanee - The University of the South 69-49 Friday evening.
With the win, the Warriors improve to 11-2 overall and 2-0 in league play. The Tigers fall to 8-5 and 0-2.
Sewanee led 21-13 early in the second quarter, but Hendrix outscored the home team 24-9 the rest of the quarter to take a 37-30 lead at halftime. The Tigers cut the deficit to 41-35 at 6:26 left in the third, but the Warriors pushed the lead back to 14 points at the end of the quarter and maintained a double-digit advantage the rest of the game.
The Orange & Black shot 35.9 percent (23-of-64) from the field, 3-of-13 from three-point range and 20-of-27 at the free throw line. Sewanee shot 30.4 percent (17-of-56) overall, 3-of-18 from outside and 12-of-15 at the line. The Warriors held a 45-40 rebound advantage. Hendrix also had a season-low seven turnovers, while recording 11 steals.

Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler paced the Warriors with 17 points and two assists.

Sara Dyslin had 12 points and six rebounds.

Anna King scored nine points and pulled down five boards off the bench.

Heather Prowse had six points, three steals and nine rebounds.
- Sophomore center
Madison Martin added five points and a season-high six rebounds.
Sewanee Notes- Bella Taylor led the Tigers with 15 points.
- Corey Caulder had 12 points and 10 boards.
- Rebecca Lobach had seven rebounds off the bench.
