SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Hendrix College men's basketball team lost to Sewanee - The University of the South 65-56 in their first road Southern Athletic Association game of the season.
The host Tigers (9-4, 2-0) led the Warriors (1-12, 0-2) 32-18 at halftime, then pushed their lead to 20 points early in the second period. Down 60-41 with 5:15 to play, Hendrix went on a 11-0 run, with a pair of three-pointers from freshman point guard
Preston Smith, to make the game 60-52 with 1:22 remaining. With the Warriors forced to foul in the final minutes, the Tigers made 5-of-6 free throw attempts in the final 70 seconds to secure the win.
For the game, Hendrix shot 35.5 percent (22-of-62), 6-of-24 from outside and 6-of-11 at the line. Sewanee shot 47.2 percent (25-of-53) overall, 4-of-16 from three-point range and 11-of-15 at the stripe. The Orange & Black had a 38-34 rebound advantage.

John Ogle tied his career high with 19 points to go with eight rebounds and three steals, also a personal best.
- Smith finished with 17 points, hitting four three-pointers.

Drew Nikolovski had four points, six rebounds and two assists.

Holden Branscum scored his first career points with a basket late in the second half.
Sewanee Notes- Keshonn Carter paced the Tigers with 14 points to go with seven rebounds and two blocks.
- Jacob McCullough came off the bench to score 10 points.
- Jorden Williams, the team's leading scorer, was held to eight points and three assists.
- Brody Stone had nine points and seven rebounds.
Up NextHendrix will take on SAA-rival Centre College in Danville, Ky. Sunday.
