#25 Hendrix Advances to NCAA Second Round

RICHARDSON, Texas - The #25 Hendrix College volleyball team defeated #12 Trinity University 25-21, 18-25, 25-15-25-22 to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in the Dallas Regional Friday night.

The Warriors (25-7) make it to the round of 32 for the third consecutive year and will face #4 University of Texas at Dallas at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Tied at 17-17 in the first set, Hendrix went on an 8-4 run to take the opening game. The Orange & Black hit .382 with 16 kills in the first set. The Tigers (27-8) easily took the set, but the Warriors responded to easily win the third.

The fourth set was tied 21-21, but the Warriors won four of the final points thanks to a pair of kills from freshman Lauren Dwyer and another from junior Sara Dyslin.

For the match, the Warriors hit .210 with 63 kills, six aces, 86 digs and six blocks. The Tigers hit .135 with 43 kills, three aces, 80 digs and six blocks.

- Senior outside hitter MC Rogers tallied a season-high 22 kills and hit .360 to go with 11 digs and two blocks.
- Dyslin had 11 kills and three blocks.
- Junior right side Lauren Petrisin came up with 10 kills and hit .320.
- Dwyer finished with nine kills and 14 digs.
- Junior right side Bradi Ryan connected on eight kills and two blocks.
- Senior setter Allison Gaia had 28 assists and a career-high 20 digs.
- Sophomore setter Amber Melcher recorded 23 assists and three aces.
- Senior libero Leila Matsumoto came up with 28 digs.

Trinity Notes
- Kirby Smith led the Tigers with 15 kills and had 15 digs.
- Erika Edrington had 40 assists and 14 digs.
- Sarah Mullens led the defense with 22 digs.
