CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College men's basketball team lost their season opener 89-88 in overtime to the University of Dallas at Grove Gymnasium Tuesday night.
The Warriors drained eight three-pointers in the first half, en route to a 43-31 lead at the break. Hendrix led 67-58 with 6:38 left in the second period when the Crusaders went on a 16-7 run to pull within one-point with 29 seconds left. Bryce Parker extended their lead to 77-74. An off-balanced and heavily guarded three-pointer by Dallas guard Lorenzo Gonzalez tied it up just before the buzzer. Parker launched a half-court shot as time ran out, but the shot hit off the rim.
The teams were tied 82-82 with 2:01 left in the extra period. The Crusaders went up 88-83 after back-to-back baskets from Xavier Cannon with 34 seconds left. Hendrix sophomore point guard

Hendrix shot 38.8 percent from the field (26-of-67), 12-of-29 from three-point range and 24-of-39 from the free throw line to go with 43 rebounds, 17 assists, five blocks and seven steals. Dallas shot 50.7 percent overall (35-of-69), 9-of-19 from outside and 10-of-14 at the line with 42 boards, 23 assists, three blocks, four steals.

- Smith finished with a career-high 27 points to go with eight rebounds and three assists.
- Parker also had a career-best 20 points, hitting five three-pointers.
