CONWAY, Ark. - The 25th-ranked Hendrix College volleyball swept Sewanee - The University of the South 25-13, 25-11, 25-18 Friday to move on to the Southern Athletic Association Tournament semifinals.
The top-seeded Warriors (22-7) will face fifth-seeded Centre College at noon Saturday in Grove Gymnasium.
Hendrix hit a blistering .352 - their second best output of the season, while the eighth-seeded Tigers (9-17) hit just .009. The Orange & Black connected on 42 kills with three aces, 59 digs and eight blocks. Sewanee had 24 kills, three aces, 55 digs and one block.
Hendrix Notes
- Senior outside hitter
MC Rogers recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 14 kills and 10 digs. She hit .350 and did not commit an attack error.
- Junior middle blocker
Sara Dyslin, the SAA Player of the Year, hit .500 with eight kills, two aces and six blocks.
- Junior right side
Lauren Petrisin hit .500 with seven kills and three blocks.
- SAA Newcomer of the Year
Lauren Dwyer registered seven kills and eight digs.
- Senior setter
Allison Gaia tallied 18 assists and eight digs.
- Sophomore setter
Amber Melcher added 12 assists.
- Senior libero
Leila Matsumoto came up with 18 digs.
Sewanee Notes
- Diamond Steward led the Tigers with eight kills and had nine digs.
- Rebecca Rowan also recorded eight kills.
- Caroline Owens led the defense with 14 digs.
