CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's tennis team suffered their first loss of the season to NCAA Division II member Harding University 9-0 at Hatcher Tennis Center Wednesday night.
The Warriors (2-1) were swept by the Lady Bisons (1-2) in doubles. The top tandem for Hendrix - juniors
Julia Lefler and
Lauren Mahaney - lost to Piper Huey and Laura Golubic 6-2. In number two doubles, junior
Pratheepa Ravikumar and sophomore
Laela Zaidi lost to Gabriella Alves and Brittany Smyser 8-4.
In number one singles, Lefler lost 6-1, 6-0 to Huey, the 17th-ranked player in the Division II Central Region. At the second spot, Golubic topped Ravikumar 6-2, 6-0.
Mahaney lost to Alves 6-0, 6-1 in the third spot and Zaidi was defeated by Smyser 6-1, 6-1 in the fourth flight. Warrior sophomore
Sarah Nieman lost to Lexi Beaver 6-0, 6-2 in number six singles.
Hendrix will travel to Texas A&M-Texarkana for a match on Saturday.
