Hendrix Avenges Loss to Centre 73-55

CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's basketball team rolled to a 73-55 victory over Centre College at Grove Gymnasium Sunday afternoon.

The Warriors avenge their triple-overtime loss at Centre from Jan. 10 to improve to 18-5 overall and 9-3 in Southern Athletic Association play. Hendrix remains tied with Millsaps for second place in the league standings and trail Birmingham-Southern who is 10-2 with two games to play.

Hendrix will face both Millsaps and BSC on the road next weekend to determine the conference champion and the location of the SAA Tournament.

The Orange & Black jumped out to a 19-7 lead at the end of the first quarter and led 33-22 at halftime. The Warriors outscored the Colonels (5-18, 3-9) 26-15 in the third quarter and would lead by as much as 29 points in the fourth.

For the game, Hendrix shot 36 percent (18-of-50) from the field, 7-of-21 from three-point range and were 30-of-40 at the free throw line. Centre shot 33.3 percent (15-of-45), 1-of-10 from outside and 24-of-32 from the line. The Warriors dominated the boards 42-30, including 16th off the offensive glass.

- With the win, the Warriors finish the season 9-1 at home.
- Senior point guard led Hendrix with 18 points.
- Sophomore center Sara Dyslin added 13 points, eight rebounds, a block and two steals.
- Sophomore center Madison Martin came off the bench to scored a season-high 11 and tie her personal best with nine rebounds.
- Senior forward Katy Gallien recorded eight points and five assists. She went 6-of-6 at the free throw line.
- Senior guard Estrella Flores netted eight points, as did junior guard Hailey Bode.
- Sophomore forward Heather Prowse dished out a career-high six assists.
- Freshman forward Maddie Anderson pulled down five rebounds off the bench.

Centre Notes
- Alexis Guy led the Colonels with 24 points.
- Paige Kellam recorded seven points and five rebounds off the bench
- Day Vance had four points, nine boards and two steals.

Up Next
Hendrix will face Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss. Friday.
