JACKSON, Miss. - The Hendrix College women's basketball team lost to Millsaps College 47-40 at the Hangar Dome in Southern Athletic Association play Friday night.
With the loss, the Warriors fall to 18-6 overall and 9-4 in the conference and drop to third place with one game left. The Majors remain in second place at 16-8 and 10-3 in the SAA.
Birmingham-Southern secured at least a share of first place and the right to host next weekend's SAA Tournament with their win over Rhodes Friday. Hendrix takes on BSC in Birmingham Sunday. A victory over the Panthers and a Rhodes win at Millsaps Sunday would give the Warriors the second seed in the tournament.
The Majors led 14-9 after the first quarter, but the Warriors came back in the second to tie the game at 22-22 at halftime. The teams exchanged leads in the third quarter with Millsaps up 36-35 headed into the final period.
The game was tied 40-40 with 1:26 left. Millsaps' Braxton Thomas hit a basket with 32 seconds left, then Hendrix committed a turnover and Beverly Holmes made one of a pair of free throws to give the Majors a 43-40 lead with 28 seconds left. The Warriors missed on their next possession and were forced to foul down the stretch. Millsaps went 4-of-4 at the free throw line in the final 12 seconds of the contest to secure the seven-point win.
For the game, Hendrix shot 39.1 percent from the field (15-of-50), went 0-for-11 from three-point range and 10-of-13 at the line. Millsaps shot 34 percent (33.3) overall, 4-of-14 from outside and 9-of-12 from the stripe. The Majors had a 38-36 edge in rebounds.

Sara Dyslin led the Warriors with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Heather Prowse had 13 points and three steals. It was her ninth double-digit scoring game of the year.
- Senior point guard
Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler was held to five points and pulled down six rebounds.
- Friday marked the first time in 46 games the Warriors had not hit a three-pointer. Last time they did not hit a trifecta was Nov. 22, 2014 against #13 UT Tyler.
Millsaps Notes- Thomas led the Majors with 14 points.
- Katie Connor and Kala-Jewel Freeman each had seven points.
- Kim Klunk led Millsaps with eight boards.
