BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Hendrix College women's basketball team defeated first place Birmingham Southern College 55-51 in the regular season finale at Bill Battle Coliseum Sunday.
With the win, the Warriors improve to 19-6 overall and 10-4 in the Southern Athletic Association standings. The Panthers dropped to 21-3 overall and 11-3 in conference.
BSC tied with Millsaps for the regular season title, but had the tiebreaker and will host next weekend's SAA Tournament. Hendrix is the third seed and will take on the sixth seed Centre College on Friday.
The Warriors led 24-19 at halftime and expanded their lead to 33-25 with 5:25 left in the third quarter. The Panthers answered with a 9-1 run to tie the game at 34-34 with 3:58 remaining in the period. The Orange & Black responded with an 8-0 run to take control of the game.
BSC would get as close as three points with 5:52 left in the game, but Hendrix pushed their lead back out to nine with 3:02 on the clock. The Warriors held a seven-point advantage before Jothani Dixon hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to make the final score 55-51.
For the game, Hendrix shot 32.7 percent (18-of-55) from the floor, 6-of-17 from three-point range and 13-of-24 at the line. BSC shot 32.3 percent (21-of-65), 4-of-18 from outside and 5-of-10 at the stripe. The Warriors had a 49-40 rebounding advantage.
Hendrix Notes- Sophomore center
Sara Dyslin recorded her 10th double-double of the season with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
- Junior guard
Hailey Bode came off the bench to scored 12 points on four trifectas. She also blocked a career-high three shots and recorded two steals.

Heather Prowse came up with eight points and six boards.

Katy Gallien dished out six assists.
- Senior point guard
Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler finished with four points, nine rebounds, five assists, a block and a steal.
- Sophomore
Madison Martin chipped in six points off the bench.
Birmingham-Southern Notes- Yorisha Bryant led the Panthers with 13 points, 10 rebounds, six blocks and five steals.
- Ashley Curry had 12 points.
- Jameice Holmes and Jasmynn Batts both recorded nine points off the bench.
