CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's tennis team defeated John Brown University 7-2 Friday afternoon to move to 4-1 on the season.
The Warriors took two of the three doubles matches to start the contest. Juniors
Julia Lefler and
Lauren Mahaney defeated Eva Berry and Krizana Saucedo 8-3 in number one doubles. At the second spot, junior
Pratheepa Ravikumar and sophomore
Laela Zaidi topped Clare Holden and Taylor Russell 8-4.
Hendrix closed out the win by taking five of the six singles match-ups. Lefler defeated Jessie Alexander 6-0, 6-2 in the first flight and Ravikumar defeated Saucedo 7-6, 6-4 in the second spot.
Zaidi needed a tiebreaker to defeat Berry 4-6, 7-6, 1-0 (10-6). In the fifth spot, sophomore
Sarah Nieman had a 6-3, 6-4 decision over Holden. Senior
Any Jivan defeated Claire Griffin 6-2, 6-2 in the sixth match.
Hendrix will take on the University of the Ozarks at home Saturday afternoon.
