CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's tennis team moved to 5-1 on the season with an 8-1 victory over the University of the Ozarks on Saturday.
This was the second time this season, the Warriors defeated the Eagles (1-4).
Hendrix took all three doubles pairings to start the match. Juniors
Julia Lefler and
Lauren Mahaney defeated Paige Myers and Kayla Tucker 8-1 in the top spot. Junior
Pratheepa Ravikumar and sophomore
Laela Zaidi moved to 7-2 on the year with an 8-1 defeat of Imani Doyle and Andrea Munoz in the second flight. Senior
Any Jivan and sophomore
Sarah Nieman recorded an 8-2 victory over Olivia Allard and Maggie Johnson in the final spot.
The Eagles' only point came in a tiebreaker set when Munoz defeated Jivan 6-0, 3-6, 10-6 in number four singles.
Lefler swept Tucker 6-0, 6-0 at number one and Ravikumar took down Myers 6-2, 6-1 at number two. Zaidi picked up a 6-2, 6-2 win over Doyle in the third spot. Nieman defeated Allard 6-1, 6-0 at number five singles to move to 4-1 on the year. Junior
Elizabeth Phelps defeated Johnson 6-1, 6-1 in the sixth flight.
Hendrix will open Southern Athletic Association play against Rhodes College at home next Saturday.
