MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Hendrix College baseball team split with #22 Berry College in Southern Athletic Association action at William R. Bowdoin Field Friday afternoon.
The host Vikings (15-5, 3-2) took the opener 12-0, but the Warriors (8-9, 3-2) rebounded to win the nightcap 6-2.
In game one, Berry outhit Hendrix 14-2 and took advantage of five errors. TJ Montgomery (4-1) earned the win with six strikeouts and allowing two hits and a walk over seven innings. Senior
Daniel Imbro (2-3) took the loss for the Orange & Black.
The Warriors opened game two with three runs in the top of the first. Freshman third baseman
Jorge Leon led off with a base hit, followed by a
Drew Judson bunt single and another hit by
Wyatt Hogan to load the bases. After an out, sophomore first baseman
Matthew Lillard drove in Leon with a single to left field, which was mishandled and allowed Judson and Hogan to cross the plate as well.
The Vikings scored a run in the bottom of the first. Hendrix tacked on three more runs in the fifth. Leon once again got things started with a walk and Judson singled. Hogan doubled in Leon and freshman shortstop
Tanner Cooper singled in Judson with hit to right field. A ground ball by Lillard had Hogan thrown out at the plate, but Cooper scored on a throwing error on his steal of third base. Berry scored the final run on a Casey Whitaker sacrifice fly in the seventh.
Senior
Will Nichol (2-1) allowed four hits, two runs, a walk and struck out four in the win. Trey Rampy (3-2) took the loss for the Vikings.

Davis Page had a pinch hit single in game one. He also threw a out a runner trying to steal in game two.
- Cooper extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a hit in both contests. He also stole a pair of bases in game two.
- Leon scored twice in the second game.
- Judson had two hits in the nightcap, his ninth multiple-hit game of the year. He also scored twice and stole a base.
- Hogan was 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI in the second game.
Berry Notes- Dusty Tyson went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and a double in game one.
- Shortstop Alfred Francis was 2-of-2 with two driven in and two runs scored in the opener.
- Brady Smith hit a solo home run in game one.
Up NextHendrix and Berry will play the rubber match at noon eastern Saturday.
