ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Hendrix College baseball team lost to NCAA Division II in-state foe Henderson State University 5-3 at Clyde Berry Field Tuesday night.
The Reddies (12-16) scored three times in the third on a two-run triple from second baseman AJ Kruzel and a RBI-single from center fielder Tadarious Hawkins.
They tacked on two more after a hit, an error, a walk and a wild pitch in the fourth to go up 5-0.
Reddie starter Kris Priddy (1-0) held the Warriors (12-11) hitless while only allowing three walks and striking out three through seven innings. Dylan McCain came in the game for HSU in the top of the eighth and Hendrix took advantage.
Freshman left fielder
Marshall Nichol led off with a single, followed by a walk issued to freshman
Jorge Leon and a base hit for sophomore
Drew Judson to load the bases. Freshman
Josh Slezak followed with a pinch hit walk, scoring Nichol. Freshman shortstop
Tanner Cooper followed with a single to center field, plating Leon. Freshman
Josh Walker drove in Judson with a pinch hit sacrifice fly.
The Warriors loaded the bases in the top of the ninth against closer Nick Vanthillo, but he was able to induce a double play and get a ground out for his fourth save of the year.
Priddy earned the win for the Reddies, while junior left-hander
Colten Poellinger took the loss for the Warriors. Junior
Connor Nelson struck out a career-high four batters in 3.2 innings of scoreless relief for the Warriors.
Hendrix Notes- Leon drew three walks and scored a run.

Henderson State Notes- Kruzel went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. He had the only extra-base hit of the game for either team.
- Hunter Mayall and Jordan Taylor both scored twice. Taylor walked three times.
Up NextHendrix will return to Southern Athletic Association action with a series at Sewanee - The University of the South beginning Friday.
