MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Hendrix College women's tennis team lost 9-0 to #12 Sewanee - The University of the South in the first round of the Southern Athletic Association Tournament Friday morning.
The Warriors (6-11), the eighth-seed, lost all three doubles matches to the top-seeded Tigers (19-5). Junior
Pratheepa Ravikumar and sophomore
Laela Zaidi had the best showing, falling to Christina Merchant and Bea Benavides 8-4 in the second spot.
In singles, Ravikumar lost to Merchant 6-0, 6-3 in the second flight. Zaidi was defeated by Mary Jane McCaghren 6-0, 6-4 in the fourth spot and sophomore
Sarah Nieman lost 6-0, 6-4 to Beanvides at number five.
Hendrix' season has now come to an end. Zaidi was named to the All-Tournament Team.
