CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's tennis team started the 2016-17 season with a 6-3 win at the University of the Ozarks on Saturday.
The Warriors picked up two wins in doubles to start the match. The senior duo of
Julia Lefler and
Lauren Mahaney defeated Madison Sieber and Paige Myers 8-1 at number one doubles. Junior
Sarah Nieman and freshman
Rebecca Sherman topped Imani Dyole and Andrea Munoz 8-2 in the top spot.
Hendrix earned four more victories in singles competition, led by Lefler at the top with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Kayla Tucker. Sherman earned her first career win at number four by defeating Myers 6-1, 6-1. Sophomore
Cooper Chimbel handled Doyle 6-4, 6-1 at number five and Nieman won over Munoz 6-2, 6-4 in number six.
Hendrix will be back in action at the ITA Southwest Regionals in Abilene, Texas starting Sept. 23.
