Centre Edges Hendrix 43-41

DANVILLE, Ky. - The Hendrix College women's basketball team were clipped by Centre College 43-41 at Alumni Gymnasium in Southern Athletic Association play Sunday afternoon.

The first half was a tale of two quarters. The visiting Warriors (8-8, 2-3) led 13-5 after the first quarter, but the Colonels (5-11, 3-2) outscored them 15-3 in the second to take a 20-16 lead at halftime. The teams were tied at 29-29 at the end of the third.

Centre led 38-32 with 6:18 left, but Hendrix fought to cut the deficit to 42-41 with 1:04 after a pair of Sara Dyslin free throw. After a Colonel miss, the Warriors turned the ball over with 12 seconds left. Paige Kellam hit one-of-two free throws to make the game 43-41 with five seconds left. Hendrix turned the ball over as time expired to give Centre the victory.

For the game, Hendrix shot 30.4 percent (15-of-50) from the field, 4-of-13 from outside and 7-of-12 at the free throw line with 35 rebounds, 41 points, six assists, 10 turnovers, one block and two steals. Centre shot 34 percent (16-of-47) from the floor, 3-of-10 from three-point range and 8-of-14 at the line with 36 boards, seven assists, eight turnovers, three blocks and two steals.

Hendrix Notes
- Dyslin, a junior center, led the Warriors with 11 points, seven rebounds, two assists and a block.
- Junior guard Leah Smith scored nine points and tied her career-high with six rebounds.
- Senior guard Hailey Bode had seven points and a steal.
- Freshman guard Jordan Tibbits mad a pair of three-pointers for six points off the bench.
- Freshman guard Amber Turner recorded three points, three rebounds and a steal.
- Junior center Madison Martin had four points, five boards and two assists.
- Junior forward Heather Prowse came down with five rebounds.

Centre Notes
- Kellam led the Colonels with 12  points and had four rebounds.
- Day Vance recorded nine points and seven boards.
- Abigail Stewards had seven boards and three blocks.
- Mikayla Fee added six points and four rebounds.
