ATLANTA - The Hendrix College men's basketball team's four-game winning streak came to an end Sunday with a 70-63 loss at Oglethorpe University in Southern Athletic Association action on Sunday.
The Warriors (8-9, 4-3) built a 29-19 lead with five and a half minutes left in the first half. They led the Stormy Petrels (6-12, 3-4)Â 36-27 at halftime. The Orange & Black shot 52 percent (13-of-25) from the field in the opening period.
In the second half, Hendrix led 58-46 with 7:17 to play, but OU went on a 17-2 run to take their first lead of the game at 63-60 with 1:08 left. The Warriors cut their deficit to 65-63 with 20 seconds left, but the Petrels scored the final five points of the game at the free throw line.
For the game, Hendrix shot 40.4 percent (23-of-57) from the field, 10-of-32 at from three-point territory and 7-of-16 at the line. They also recorded 36 rebounds, 14 assists, 13 turnovers and four steals. Oglethorpe shot 44.9 percent (22-of-49) overall, 5-of-18 from outside and 21-of-29 at the line with 27 rebounds, 10 assists, six turnovers, three blocks and seven steals.

Preston Smith scored 22 points to lead the Warriors. He made six three-pointers, tied for the ninth most in school history.
