CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's basketball team come back effort fell short, as they lost to Birmingham-Southern College 54-53 in Southern Athletic Association action at Grove Gymnasium Sunday afternoon.
The Warriors (7-7, 1-2) struggled in the first half, shooting just 14 percent (2-for-14) from the field and committing 13 turnovers. The Panthers (8-6, 3-0) led 20-8 after the first quarter and 29-15 at halftime. BSC also took a 45-29 lead into the fourth quarter. Hendrix outscored BSC 24-9 in the fourth quarter, shooting 50 percent (9-of-18) in the period. The Orange & Black cut the deficit to 52-49 at the 2:35 mark, but the Panthers scored 1:16 later to push their advantage back to five points.
Junior center
Sara Dyslin hit a pair of free throws with 14 seconds left and made a basket after a BSC turnover to make the game 54-54 with eight ticks left. The Panthers turned the ball over with two seconds left, but the Warriors turned it back over after a Camillia Carter steal at the end of the game to secure the victory for the visitors.
For the game, Hendrix shot 33.3 percent (17-of-51) from the floor, 5-of-12 from three-point territory and 14-of-23 at the free throw line. They also recorded 37 rebounds, 13 assists, 17 turnovers, one block and four steals. BSC shot 38.8 percent (19-of-49) from the field, 4-of-14 from outside and 12-of-13 at the line with 31 rebounds, 14 assists, 16 turnovers, 14 blocks and nine steals.

- Dyslin finished with a game-high 18 points and nine rebounds.

Leah Smith hit a trio of three-pointers, en route to 13 points, to go with a career-high six rebounds and three steals.

Maddie Anderson recorded six rebounds and two assists.
Birmingham-Southern Notes
- Guard Jameice Holmes led the Panthers with 17 points with two assists, two blocks and three steals.
- Carter finished with 14 points.
- Emilee Olsen recorded eight points, eight rebounds and six blocks.
- Laura Van Peursem had eight points, seven rebounds, five assists and five blocks.
