Conway, AR - The Hendrix College women's soccer team returned to action with a non-conference match-up on Tuesday, defeating Ozarks 4-0. The Warriors improve to 6-8-2 on the season.Â
The Warriors came out firing in the first half when
Hagan Griffith scored the first goal of the game in the 9' which was assisted by
Evie Cannon to put the Warriors up 1-0. The game would remain 1-0 until Cannon scored a goal of her own to make the score 2-0 going into halftime, as Hendrix goalkeeper
Jordan Rausch made save after save to keep the Warriors in front.
The two goal lead would grow in the second half when Hendrix's
Maddie Mae Seyer was able to score in the 47' with the assist from Cannon grow the lead to 3-0.
The game would gain one more goal by the end of regulation. Hendrix would bring the crowd to their feet in the 61' when Cannon buried a goal past the Ozarks goalkeeper to take the 4-0 shutout win.
"I was very proud of our performance tonight," said Head Coach
Jeff Trimble. "We move really well off the ball and created a lot of good scoring chances. We've been missing that lately. It was a nice night for the seniors and I was happy they got the result tonight."
Hendrix outshot UO 12-5 and Rausch had a great game in net, making four saves.
The Warriors look to continue to keep the wins coming as they take on Rhodes in another SAA Conference match-up this Saturday. The game is scheduled to start at 12:00 pm.
