Warriors Earn Split in Double-Header

Birmingham, AL - The Hendrix volleyball team traveled to take part in a doubleheader Sunday. The Warriors looked to improve their record, 10-14 overall and 7-6 in conference. The Warriors would face Birmingham Southern College in the first match and Emory University in the second match.

Hendrix came out of the gate with a purpose as they took the first set of game one 25-16. The second set saw a different story unfold with the Warriors falling 25-17. In the third set the Warriors took back control of Birmingham Southern winning that set by a  score of 25-23. The Warriors would win the next set as well, winning the match by a score of 3-1.

For the match Bradi Ryan led the Warriors in kills with 12. Lauren Petrisin added 12 kills of her own for the match. Amber Melcher led the Warriors with assists totaling 21. Four Warriors finished in double digits for digs. Lauren Dwyer (21), Jeanette McGrath (21), MaKenzie Presley (15), and Melcher (14) all accomplished the feat. The second match of the day saw the Warriors take on Emory University. Hendrix looked to keep their winning ways going with a non-conference win.

Unfortunately for Hendrix they would not see the same success they saw in the first match. The first set was close but the Warriors fell by a score of 25-23. Emory kept the pressure on in the second set taking the Warriors down 25-10. Hendrix would not go down without a fight as they continued to fight hard in the third set but would ultimately fall 25-18 losing the match 3-0.

For the match the Warriors were led by Dwyer in kills with a total of eleven. Petrisin also added ten of her own to the cause. Melcher racked up an impressive 18 assists in the second match. Hendrix had one player finish with double digits in digs. McGrath (10) completed the feat once again.
