Football Rallies Past Trinity 38-35

San Antonio, TX - Hendrix pitched a strong second-half and Michael Spainhour scored on a 40-yard pass to push the Warriors ahead. HC would defeat host Trinity, 38-35.

After having a bye week last week Miles Thompson was 25 of 43 for 417 yards and two scores.

Spainhour had seven catches for 155 yards, while Nate Hodapp caught seven passes for 124 yards.

Michael Kramer had a team-best 14 tackles.

Hendrix took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a rushing touchdown by Thompson.

A touchdown by Blake Hinton kept the Warriors in the lead pushing the score to 14-0.

Hendrix would add more to the scoreboard with a touchdown from Mason Millsap with two minutes remaining in the second quarter.

Trinity responded on the final play of the half with a touchdown to make the score 21-7 going into halftime.

Trinity cut into the deficit more in the second half with another score, closing the gap to 21-14.

On the next play the Warriors would add another touchdown.

Trinity quickly scored again to make the score 28-21 with just under three minutes left in the third quarter.

Trinity drove it into Warriors territory again on its next try and tied the game up 28-28.

The Warriors' defense quickly stepped into action going into the fourth quarter, and Hendrix worked into Tigers' territory once again and scored.  This time, the Warriors Sandy Burks would kick a field goal with seven remaining in regulation.

The Warriors would score one more time before the games end to take the 38-35 victory.

"That was a great road win for our program," said Head Coach Buck Buchanan. "I was extremely proud of how hard we fought today, and we were rewarded with the win which secured our fourth consecutive winning season. We, by no means, played perfect, but we played as hard as we have played all year, and we had guys step up and make plays on both sides of the ball when we needed them most. We are going to enjoy this victory all night as wel travel home on the bus and get to work on Rhodes when we pull back into Conway."

Hendrix will return to SAA play next Saturday when host Rhodes at 6 p.m.
