Conway, AR - The Hendrix Women's Soccer team hosted Delta State Tuesday night in a non-conference match-up with the Warriors looking to improve their record as they entered play 5-5 overall.
The Statesmen struck first with a goal towards the end of the first half to take the 1-0 lead.Â
After half-time Hendrix would strike back courtesy of
Sydney Blevins (53'), who tied the game up 1-1. Shortly after, the Statesmen struck again off of an own goal in the 64'. This would be the last goal of the game as DSU would take the 2-1 victory.
"I am very proud of how our girls played tonight," said Head Coach
Jeff Trimble. "The weather certainly played a factor for both teams. It was nice to respond in the second half and tie the game up. It just was unfortunate that we lost the game on a deflection goal. I felt like Delta State played well and was well coached. Once again I was very proud of how hard we played."
Jordan Rausch had three saves on the day. Â
The Warriors will be back in action Friday when they take on the Stormy Petrels of Oglethorpe at Warrior field.
