Conway, AR -Â Hendrix had 535 yards of total offense in a 42-24 SAA conference victory over Birmingham Southern today at home.
Drew Versnel paced the Warriors strong defense with eleven tackles, while
Cory McGonigal added nine.
On the other side of the ball, two-time SAA Offensive Player of the Week
Miles Thompson was 17 of 21 passing for 262 yards with two touchdowns. He also added four rushing touchdowns.
Freshman
Kip VanHoose had nine carries for 54 yards and
Nate Hodapp led the receiving corps with seven catches for 170 yards.
A Hendrix touchdown started the game off strong as Hendrix continued its trend of finding the end zone right at the start of the game. Thompson would get credit for the 60-yard rushing touchdown.
After a Panther touchdown, the Warriors would end the first quarter up 21-10.
A Birmingham Southern punt would lead to a second-quarter touchdown by the Warriors. Thompson had another rush into the end-zone this time for 16 yards.The Warriors would be ahead 28-13 at halftime.
Hendrix would go three and out on their first possession of the second half.
A few possessions later, the Warriors looked to add more points on the board as Thompson connected with Hodapp for a 28-yard touchdown.
Hendrix pushed the lead to 42-16 early in the fourth quarter with a 3-yard rush by Thompson. This would be the last HC score of the game as they would take the 42-24 victory.
Hendrix will hit the road next Saturday as they face Berry at 2 pm.
