Conway, AR - The Hendrix College women's basketball team had their home opener tonight. The Warriors, 2-1 overall hosted the Crusaders of The University of Dallas (1-0 overall) in a non-conference match-up.
The first quarter was a slow paced. The Warriors ended the quarter with a 19-12 lead.
Play picked up in the second frame, driven by HC's strong defense. The Warriors increased their lead to 21 points, 36-15. Â
A big advantage for Hendrix was the points they gained from the free throw line. They were 11-20 from the charity stripe and only gave the Crusaders five attempts from the line. The Warriors seniors carried the team with
Heather Prowse leading all scorers with nine points.
Leah Boehl added eights points on six shots.
Vinessa Daniel was tenacious on the defensive end with three steals to go along with her three points.
Hendrix came out in the third quarter and put their foot on the pedal as they extended their lead to 28 points.Â
The Warriors gained some important momentum heading into the thick of their season with a huge 76-48 win over the Crusaders. Hendrix stood out and made this game no contest.
The Warriors were led by Prowse with 17 points and Boehl who recorded 12 points and added three rebounds. The win puts Hendrix way over the five hundred mark and improved their record to 3-1 overall. Â
The Warriors will host Centenary next weekend for a non-conference match-up. The game will be on Saturday November 25.
