Conway, AR -Â The Hendrix College men's basketball team hosted Ozarks this evening for a non-conference match-up.
The Warriors came into the game looking for their first win of the season.
Hendrix led early in the game (9-7) on a three by
Trey Rouse. That would be the spark for the Warriors as they would take command throughout the rest of the first half. The Eagles would fight hard but went into the break trailing 34-22. Hendrix never relinquished the lead in the second half.
Hendrix sophomore
Jacob Link had 24 points to lead the Hendrix Warriors to a 80-50 men's basketball victory in the rematch against the Ozarks Eagles. His 24 points led all scorers.
"I'm really proud of our guys effort and focus tonight," said Head Coach
Thad McCracken. "Our energy and intensity was at an all time high and the most impressive thing to me was how we sustained it for 40 minutes. I'm also proud of the way we played together tonight. We were vocal and supportive of each other throughout the game and I am confident that we will continue to play that way moving forward. It was a great team effort all around tonight."
Marcis Hall added eleven points and ten rebounds for the Warriors, who improved to 1-5 with the non-conference win. Senior
Eric Roberts had ten points with six of those coming in the first half.
Hendrix owned a 45-42 rebounding advantage and would also hold the advantage over Ozarks in three-point shooting, where the Eagles were outscored 13-9.
Hendrix returns to action on Sunday when they host Centenary. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 3:00 pm.
