Danville, KY -Â The #6 seeded Hendrix College women's soccer team was able to get a semifinals victory over the #2 seeded Birmingham Southern. After falling behind early 2-0, Â Hendrix was able to rally for two goals in under a minute and then two more later in the second half to hold off Birmingham Southern for the 4-2 victory.
Birmingham Southern was able to score in the 6' to put the Panthers up 1-0 in the early going. After another goal from BSC, the Warriors would finally answer back, as junior defender
Melissa Miller was able to score in the games 58' to cut the lead to 2-1.
Hendrix would then tie the game up just 28 second later on a
Lucy Moore goal.Â
Maddie Mae Seyer would score next for the Warriors in the 64'. Her goal came off of a penalty kick, following a Birmingham Southern foul.
Hagan Griffith would add one more insurance goal in the 78' to put the Warriors up 4-2.
"I'm really proud of the girls and how they played," said Head Coach
Jeff Trimble. "I felt like we are playing really good soccer and we were disappointed when we got down by a couple goals. But the girls didn't get discouraged and kept the pressure on and good things happened. It really was a team win because I really felt like everyone on the field worked hard, played with great emotion, and showed great skill. I am so proud of this program and this group of girls."
Jordan Rausch had a stellar game in net, making seven saves. The win improves Hendrix to the SAA Conference Tournament on Sunday when they face the top seeded Centre.Â
