St. Louis, MO - The Hendrix College women's basketball team returned to the hardwood this afternoon in a non-conference match-up with Fontbonne.
The Warriors never relinquished the lead after the opening point of the third quarter, on their way to an 64-52 win over the Griffins.
"I'm very proud of the girls," said Head Coach
Drew Gaeng. "Their effort and focus on the defensive end was great. Each girl was a major contributor from top to bottom."
Senior
Madison Martin had a great game, going for 18 points on 7-8 shooting. She also had nine rebounds, including three offensive rebounds. Â
Not to be outdone, freshman
Vinessa Daniel had another monster game. She finished the game with 16 points and two rebounds.
Senior
Leah Smith also finished with double-digits in points, with ten points.
The Warriors were also lead offensively by
Maddie Anderson who had seven points and four other HC players made the score sheet with points.
Hendrix won the game on the glass, out rebounding the Griffins 44-34 leading to eight second chance points.
Hendrix will now have a few days off before their next match-up as the host to Rhodes College next Tuesday at 3:00 pm.
