CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's basketball team defeated Centre College 50-40 in a defensive battle at Grove Gymnasium Sunday afternoon.
The Warriors improve to 14-10 on the season and 8-5 in Southern Athletic Association play, while the Colonels fall to 6-18 and 4-9. Hendrix is tied for third place Oglethorpe with one game to play.
The Orange & Black led 9-4 after the first quarter and 25-10 at halftime. Centre cut their deficit to 36-25 by the end of the third quarter. They would only come as close as eight points in the fourth quarter.
The Warriors shot 29.5 percent (13-of-44) for the game, 0-for-5 from three-point range and 24-of-39 at the line. They also had 39 rebounds, nine assists, seven turnovers, six blocks and eight steals. The Colonels shot 27.8 percent (15-of-54) from the field, 3-of-11 from outside and 7-of-14 at the line with 39 boards, nine assists, 12 turnovers, four blocks and three steals.

- Senior guard
Hailey Bode paced the Warriors with 14 points and dished out two assists. She went 10-of-13 at the charity stripe.
- Junior center
Madison Martin posted her sixth double-double of the year with 13 points and 10 rebounds off the bench.
- Junior center
Sara Dyslin had eight points, 13 rebounds, a season-high five blocked shots, two steals and two assists. She now has 100 career blocked shots, moving into second place in the program record book.
- Freshman guard
Amber Turner added six points and two steals.
- Junior forward
Heather Prowse came up with four points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Centre Notes
- Lakken Miller led the Colonels with 13 points.
- Abigail Stewart scored 10 points with four rebounds, two assists and two blocks.
- Day Vance recorded seven rebounds and a pair of steals.
- Cheyenne Bunner had six points and four rebounds off the bench.
