Hendrix Defeats Rhodes, Earns 3rd Seed

CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's basketball finished the regular season with a 51-41 victory over Rhodes College at home Saturday night.

With the win, the Warriors improve to 15-10 and 9-5 in the Southern Athletic Association. They tied for second places in the final standings, but will be the third seed at the SAA Tournament in Birmingham, Ala. next weekend. The Lynx finish 5-20 overall and 4-10 in conference.

Hendrix had a 16-3 lead after the first quarter and took a 25-18 advantage into halftime. The Warriors extended their lead to 40-27 at the end of the third. Rhodes would get as close as 48-41 with 1:43 left before the Warriors won 51-41.

For the game, Hendrix shot 24 percent (12-of-50) from the field, 6-of-21 from three-point range and 21-of-26 at the free throw line. They also recorded 46 rebounds, nine assists, 18 turnovers, five blocks and nine steals. Rhodes shot 28 percent (14-of-50) overall, 3-of-14 from outside and 10-of-15 from the line with 33 rebounds, six assists, 17 turnovers, seven blocks and seven steals.

Before the game, Hendrix honored their lone senior - Hailey Bode - before the game.

- Junior guard Leah Smith scored a career-high 22 points and had two steals.
- Junior center Sara Dyslin posted her 16th double-double of the year with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
- Junior forward Heather Prowse came down with 11 rebounds - six offensive, to go with two assists and two steals.
- Bode finished with five points, three boards, two assists and two steals.
- Junior center Madison Martin had four points and six rebounds.
- Freshman guard Amber Turner had three assists.

Rhodes Notes
- Jessie Ustick led the Lynx with 11 points and grabbed six rebounds.
- Bailey Kramer recorded eight points, eight rebounds and two blocks.
- Allie Young had five points and six rebounds.
- Anna Muller recorded five points, six boards and three steals.

Up Next
The Warriors will face sixth-seeded Berry College in the first round of the SAA Tournament in Birmingham, Ala. Friday.
