RICHARDSON, Texas - The Hendrix College baseball were swept by the University of Texas at Dallas in a double-header on the road Saturday.
The Comets (9-1) won the first game 13-0 in seven innings, before topping the Warriors (1-7) 14-4 in seven innings in the nightcap.
UTD pitcher Ruben Renteria (2-0) threw a one-hit shutout with eight strikeouts in the opener. The Hendrix pitching staff gave up 10 hits, 10 earned runs and seven walks with junior starter
Colin Brown (0-2) taking the loss.

Jorge Leon broke up the perfect game with a lead off single up the middle in the top of the seventh.
Hendrix Game 1 Notes
- Leon extended his hitting streak to nine games, dating back to last year.
- Junior second baseman
Drew Judson's hitting streak ended at 14 games.
- Senior pitcher
Connor Nelson struck out a batter in 1.1 innings of relief.
UT Dallas Game 1 Notes
- First baseman Barry Casey went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI.
- Designated hitter Garrett Uhl was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and a RBI.
- Second baseman Ryan Burciaga had two hits and scored twice.

In game two, the Comets took a 6-0 lead after three frames.
The Warriors scored two in the top of the fourth. Sophomore designated hitter
Josh Walker doubled with one out and sophomore shortstop
Tanner Cooper drew walk with a wild pitch that moved Walker up to third. Sophomore catcher
Justin Robison followed with a double down the left field line, plating Walker. Junior first baseman
Jake Wiegand reached on error, driving in Cooper.
UTD went up 10-2 after four more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Hendrix added two more in the top of the fifth. Sophomore second baseman
Dylan Bowers led off with a base hit and Leon and Judson both walked to load the bases. Walker hit a ground ball, allowing Bowers to score. Cooper singled to left field, driving in Leon.
The Comets picked up four more runs in the bottom of the fifth to force the run rule.
Jordan Murphy (1-1) gained the win for UTD. Freshman
Evan Orren (1-1) took the loss.
Hendrix Game 2 Notes
- Leon extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a double.
- Walker hit a pair of doubles with a RBI and run scored.
- Cooper also drove in a run and scored one.
UT Dallas Game 2 Notes
- Left fielder Luke Richter had a single, double and triple with three runs scored and a RBI.
- Shortstop Isaiah Swann also had three hits.
- Third baseman Connor Scruggs hit a triple with two runs scored and two RBI.
