CLARKSVILLE, Ark. - The Hendrix College baseball team lost to the University of the Ozarks 8-3 at Lonnie Qualls Field on Wednesday afternoon.
The host Eagles (3-4) scored a run in the first and right fielder Justin Crider hit a two-run double in the second. They scored another in the third and first baseman Chase Edwards hit a solo homer in the fourth to go up 6-0.
The Warriors (1-8) plated a pair of runs in the top of the fifth. Sophomore third baseman
Dylan Bowers bunted for a single and sophomore shortstop
Jorge Leon drew a walk. Both runners moved into scoring position after a wild pitch, followed by a two-run single by sophomore first baseman
Josh Walker.
Ozarks added another run in the fifth and one in the sixth to go up 8-2. Hendrix loaded the bases in the top of the ninth, and sophomore catcher
Justin Robison drew a walk, scoring Bowers for the final run of the game.
Eagle reliever Ely Gordon (1-0) earned the win with two hits and two walks in 2.2 scoreless innings. Freshman starter
Evan Ingram (0-1) took the loss, lasting four innings and allowing six runs. Senior
Connor Nelson threw two scoreless innings, allowing just hit and fanning one.
Hendrix Notes
- Leon extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a base hit. He also scored and drew three walks.
- Walker went 1-for-1 with two RBI, was walked twice and was hit by a pitch twice.
- Robison recorded a RBI, a single and a double.
- Bowers was 1-for-3 with two walks and a hit by pitch.

- Edwards went 3-for-5 with two runs scored, including the home run.
- Crider drove in two runs and scored twice.
- Left fielder Patrick Mixon had a pair of hits.
- Catcher Bryce Elder also had two hits.
