JACKSON, Miss. - The Hendrix College women's basketball team lost a close game 51-47 at Millsaps College in Southern Athletic Association action Friday night.
The Warriors now move to 11-10 overall and 5-5 in conference play and remain in fourth place with four games to play. The host Majors improve to 14-7 overall and 7-3 in the SAA, tied for second place.
After being tied 9-9 at the end of the first quarter, Millsaps led 19-16 at half. The Majors led by 36-32 at the end of the third quarter, and expended their lead to 45-37 with 4:30 to play. Hendrix went on an 8-2 run over the next 3:30 to cut the deficit to 47-45. Junior forward
Heather Prowse scored six of the eight points during the rally.
Katie Connor hit a pair of free throws with 21 ticks left, then Millicent Butler went 1-of-2 at the line to put MC up 49-45 with 15.2 seconds left. Prowse hit a lay-up to make the game 50-47, but Connor hit another free throw with four seconds left. The Warriors missed a pair of three-pointers in the final seconds of the contest.
For the game, Hendrix shot 27 percent (17-of-63) from the field, 3-of-26 from outside and 10-of-17 at the line. They also had 36 rebounds, seven assists, a season-low seven turnovers, four blocks and 10 steals. Millsaps shot 34.8 percent (16-of-46) overall, 5-of-18 from three-point range and 14-of-18 at the free throw line with 42 rebounds, eight assists, 18 turnovers, four blocks and four steals.

Amber Turner recorded three points, three rebounds, two assists and a season-best four steals.

- Braxton Thomas led the Majors with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
- Kala-Jewell Freeman had 13 points, seven boards, two assists and two blocks.
- Kim Klunk grabbed 10 rebounds.
- Megan Donaldson also had nine points.
