BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Hendrix College men's basketball team lost to Birmingham-Southern College 67-54 in a battle of third place teams in the Southern Athletic Association Sunday afternoon.
With the loss, the Warriors fall to 10-11 overall and 6-5 in conference with three games to play. The Panthers take sole possession of third place at 7-4 and 11-11 overall.
BSC led 33-25 at halftime and expanded their lead to 41-29 points with 16:22 left in the game. Hendrix went on a 15-4 run over the next five minutes to cut the deficit to 45-44. The Panthers answered with a 17-4 run to take a 62-48 lead with 1:58 left and control of the game.
In the game, the Warriors shot 31.1 percent (14-for-45) from the field, 10-of-30 from three-point range and 16-of-20 at the free throw line with 33 rebounds, six assists, 24 turnovers, a block and seven steals. The Panthers shot 37 percent (20-of-54) overall, 5-of-16 from outside and 22-of-32 at the line with 38 boards, six assists, 16 turnovers, three blocks and 11 steals.
