CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College baseball team won both games of a double-header at home against Central College Friday. The Warriors (6-9) took an offensive duel from the Dutch (1-4) 14-8 in the opener. Junior
Colin Brown threw a 13-strikeout, two-hit shutout to take the nightcap 4-0 in seven innings.
Central scored the first run of game one in the top of the first after a double from shortstop Garrett Saunders and an error advanced him to third. He scored on grounder by catcher Michael Reuter.
Hendrix responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame. Junior designated hitter
Matthew Lillard hit a two-run single in the inning. The Dutch added a run in the second and one in the third, then tied it up in the fifth with another run. The Warriors regained the lead 8-4 with another four-run inning in the fifth. Sophomore shortstop

Drew Judson blasted a homer over the fence in left to field to give Hendrix the lead for good. Sophomore catcher
Justin Robison doubled with one out then junior first baseman
Jake Wiegand singled and Robison scored on an error on the play. Sophomore second baseman
Tanner Cooper followed with a double to left center, plating Wiegand.
With the bases loaded in the sixth, Robison hit a three-run double to left center to put Hendrix up 11-4. The Dutch added two more runs in the seventh, but the Warriors also scored two in the bottom half. Central scored twice in the top of the eighth to make it 13-8. The final run of the contest came in the bottom of the eighth after Robison led off with walk, moved to second on a passed ball and later scored from third on a balk.
The Dutch outhit the Warriors 15-11 in the game.
Sophomore starter
Taylor Barker (1-1) picked up the win, giving up seven hits, three earned runs and two walks in five innings. Charlie Palmer (1-1) took the loss, allowing eight hits, eight runs and three walks with two strikeouts.
Hendrix Game 1 Notes
- Robison went 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles, four RBI and a stolen base.
- Judson was 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored with the home run.
- Leon was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and stole a base.
- Copper doubled and singled and had a steal.
- Lillard drove in two runs and scored twice.
Central Game 1 Notes
- Saunders went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, a RBI and five runs scored. He also stole a base.
- Left fielder Joe Rebik went 3-for-4 with a RBI and run scored.
- Reuter was 2-for-4 with two RBI.
- First baseman Tanner Wood also had two hits and knocked in a pair.

Brown (2-2) tied for the sixth most strikeouts in school history and had the most strikeouts looking with seven in game two. He allowed just one walk with the two hits.
Nicholas Long (0-1) took the loss, allowing seven hits, four runs and striking out eight in six frames.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth. Judson led off with a base hit, then stole second. Senior left fielder
Wyatt Hogan doubled Judson. Lillard then singled with Hogan moving to third on the hit. Robison grounded into a double play, allowing Hogan to scored and give Hendrix a 2-0 advantage.
Cooper started the fifth with a base hit, then freshman right fielder
Sean Dehne was hit by a pitch. Sophomore third baseman
Dylan Bowers bunted both runners into scoring position and Leon grounded out, knocking in Cooper. Judson doubled in Dehne for the final run of the game.

- Judson went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored, a RBI and a stolen base.
- Hogan had a double and drove in a run.
- Lillard and Bowers each stole a base.
Central Game 2 Notes
- Saunders recorded both hits for the Dutch, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.
