CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College women's tennis team defeated NCAA Division II in-state foe Ouachita Baptist University 7-2 at the Hatcher Tennis Center Wednesday night.
With the win, the Warriors improve to 9-2 on the year, while the Tigers fall to 0-12.
Hendrix took two of the three doubles matches with seniors
Julia Lefler and
Lauren Mahaney sweeping Polina Tsymbalova and Baylee McBride 8-0 at the second spot. Junior
Sarah Walker and
Sarah Nieman defeated Claire Seale and Samantha Boyd 8-3 at number three.
OBU only won the top singles matchup, while the Warriors won the other five. Lefler defeated Kendra Densmore 6-3, 6-1 at number two and Mahaney was a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) winner over Tsymbalova at number three.
Freshman
Rebecca Sherman won her 11th match of the the year by defeating McBride 6-3, 6-1 in the fourth spot. Walker topped Seale 6-4, 6-0 at number five. Nieman picked up her 10th match of the season by beating Boyd 6-1, 6-3.
Hendrix will host a Southern Athletic Association match against Birmingham-Southern Saturday at 10 a.m.
