CONWAY, Ark. - The Hendrix College baseball team lost the Southern Athletic Association series finale to Berry College 9-4 at Warrior Field Sunday afternoon. The Warriors (3-9, 2-1) swept the Vikings (8-6, 1-2) in a double-header on Saturday.
Berry struck first with a pair of runs in the third. They went up 5-0 in the fourth after an RBI single from second baseman Slade Dale, a sacrifice fly by shortstop Alfred Francis and a run-scoring double by right fielder Casey Whitaker.
Hendrix answered with three runs in the top of the fourth. Junior first baseman
Jake Wiegand hit a RBI-single and freshman left fielder
Sean Dehne drove in two runs with a base through the right side.
The Vikings went up 7-3 in the top of the fifth with two more tallies. Senior left fielder
Wyatt Hogan off the bottom of the fifth with a double and scored on a base hit off the bat of junior right fielder
Matthew Lillard. to make it 7-4. The visitors tacked on two more runs in the eighth to make the game 9-4.
Dylan Beasley (2-0) earned the win for Berry, allowing eight hits, four runs and four walks with a strikeout over five innings. Freshman
Evan Orren (1-2) took the loss for the Warriors.
